Germanium Lens

Germanium has good transmission in long wave range 8-12 μm and is widely used in thermal imaging applications. Germanium lenses can be precisely generated by single-point diamond turning machine. Multiple diamond turning machines are operated in our facility. We have solid experience in making diamond-turned aspheric lenses and diffractive lenses. The finished parts can be tested with complete metrology.

The following coating are available for germanium lenses
  • The high efficiency broadband anti-reflection coatings can be in the range 8-12 μm and 3-14 μm.
  • The diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating is used to protect external surfaces, offers high hardness, corrosion resistance, wear and abrasion resistance.
  • The infrared filter coatings are also available.
